Visual Arts Program

Future professional artists grow in mind and skill in the H.W.Blake Visual Arts Department! Offering classes in drawing, painting, printmaking, black & white and color photo, digital imagery, jewelry, glass, ceramics and sculpture, students are exposed to all foundational classes then have the opportunity to concentrate in a chosen area. Students are required to attend gallery events, enter competitions, participate in exhibitions, as well as critically discuss artwork, and maintain good academic standing. Exposure to many different art colleges provide our students with the best possible chance to succeed as they move on to higher education.

Hi everyone- just wanted you to know that so far Orange Grove Middle School has more entries in the Iron Artist competition than Blake!!!!
Iron Artist is a fun way to raise money for our school- and compete for great prizes--- including 20% of the amount raised by all teams in your category (student, alumni, faculty/parent, middle school, etc.) !!! The more teams and the more contributions the bigger the pot will be! Here’s a chance to be creative, competitive, and have some fun at the same time.
Are you a volunteer at the auction already????? No problem!!! We’ll work with you to cover your shift so you can be in the competition! Please let me know and we’ll find a way to help you out.
If you or your students are interested in entering a team, please fill out the entry form (the last page of the attached document) and return it to your art teacher with the entry fee. Remember that the fee is PER TEAM and not PER PERSON.
If you have any questions about this event please email me and let me know—I’ll be glad to answer whatever questions you have.
Oh yeah- one more thing—if you DO have a team remember to encourage all of your friends, relatives, acquaintances, people you just met, etc. to come and vote for you by donating money.
